On October 22, 2022, Katie and Matty met at Griffith Park for their first date. Two fateful swipes on Tinder turned what they both expected to be a casual evening into the beginning of a lifetime of love.

Their first date became an eight-mile walk followed by impromptu coffee and matcha. They bonded over a mutual love of the arts (and both having attended art school on the East Coast), their affection for pop-punk and emo music, and the shared experience of moving to Los Angeles.

Above all, Katie and Matty fell in love with each other’s kindness and sense of humor. They immediately started cracking jokes, telling each other their stories, and feeling something real forming. One date turned into two, and before they knew it, they were deeply in love.

While Katie was building her career as a painter, Matty was producing music and releasing his first solo project, Fly Right. As their creative worlds flourished, their love flourished right alongside them.

Early in their relationship, Katie had an artist residency in Norwich, UK. Coincidentally, Matty’s entire extended family lives in the UK, so he visited, and their love officially became international.

Katie painted portraits of Matty, and Matty wrote a love ballad for Katie called This Momentum.

Two and a half years later, on February 22, 2025, Katie and Matty got engaged in Merseyside, on the pitch at Goodison Park, during Everton’s final season, surrounded by family.

Now, we invite you to celebrate their marriage on April 10, 2026, in Los Angeles, California. Katie and Matty are so excited for the future and plan to relocate to Matty’s hometown of Cleveland, Ohio, to continue building their life together and exploring whatever comes next, hand in hand.
